The American independent record label was founded in 1989 by Dan Koretzky and Dan Osborn and specializes in genres such as indie rock, experimental rock, psychedelic rock, folk rock and alternative country, which first started its way to Europe via Touch & Go.
Over the years Drag City Records has been well established with new releases by successful musicians and bands like Bill Callahan, Bonnie Prince Billy, Gastr del Sol, Joanna Newsom, Jim O’Rourke, Will Oldham and Ty Segall within the indie section. Their slogan: “Our version of music. Guaranteed to satisfy the most tolerant listener.“
The first common highlight will be the new studio album „Freedom’s Goblin“ of the successful US songwriter Ty Segall, which will be released on January 26th. Furthermore there will be new releases like the album “Snare Like A Haircut” by No Age and Mayo Thompson’s new book “Art, Mystery”.
The label will complement the portfolio of H’art with new releases as well with reissues for Germany, Austria and Switzerland apart from mainstream music.
Manuela Nikele, Head of product management H’art is looking forward to the reunion with Drag City: “A few years ago I was already working as product manager with Drag City, which I appreciate due to high quality releases and the professional way of working.
Drag City has reached a high profile and the new musicians and bands are picked very thoughtful.”
